You’re Invited! Public Meeting Nov 9

//You’re Invited! Public Meeting Nov 9

Want to hear the latest on the Broad Street Regeneration Initiative project? Come to our public meeting on Thursday, November 9,, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM in the Community Room at Navigant Credit Union located at 693 Broad Street in Central Falls, RI.

As part of our $11.5 million State Transportation Improvement Program project to resurface Broad Street and to renovate the streetscape, Pawtucket, Central Falls and Cumberland will be making improvements to pedestrian safety, stormwater infrastructure and other features of the street. After our extensive survey this summer (thank you to everyone that participated!) the three communities have identified the priorities of our residents and business owners about items such as sidewalks, crosswalks, drainage, lighting, bicycle access, bus stops, street trees, parking, traffic congestion, and other features of the street.
The project update meeting will present early concept sketches of three intersections along Broad Street, one in each community: Broad & Exchange & Goff streets in Pawtucket, Broad & Cross streets in Central Falls, and Broad & Titus streets in Cumberland. The images depict changes that each city/town would like to see, but do not represent specific plans. Instead, the images will guide our conversations with all of you and help us collect additional feedback, while also communicating community priorities with the agencies and consultants working on the project.

Everyone who attends the meeting will have an opportunity to look closely at the images and ask questions, hear a short presentation from each municipality, and then break into small groups to discuss ideas for each community’s section of Broad Street. We want everyone to think about each section of Broad Street on its own as well as to think about the street as a single corridor. There will also be opportunities to learn more about the Initiative’s activities and to brainstorm new ideas. The mayors of all three communities will attend. TDD/TTY, visual impairment and translation services can be made available upon request (but please give us at least 48 hours written notice!)

If you’d like more information (or to RSVP!) you can contact the Broad Street Regeneration Initiative Coordinator, Jillian Finkle at or call the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council offices at (401) 724-2200.
